Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith appeared tonight on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, making the first appearance of a current (or any?) Doctor on a US talk show.
At the end of last week’s episode, the Beast Below, the Doctor gets a call on the new TARDIS phone from a certain historical Prime Minsiter of Britian, who needs the Doctor’s help.
Since then, the BBC has released 3 teaser clips from Victory of the Daleks, the first Dalek story to feature the eleventh Doctor (but I imagine not the last).
In this clip, the Doctor introduces Amy Pond to Winston Churchill who apparently has known the Doctor (and coveted the TARDIS) for some time.
In the second clip, the Doctor and Amy are on a roof looking out upon… history. They witness an impossible (by 20th century Earth technology) display of destructive force during a military test. The Doctor recognizes the sound of Dalek gunfire, and a Dalek with an unusual paint job…

For newer fans who may not get the reference: the “I am your soldier” line (including inflection) is a reference to the very first story with the second Doctor: Power of the Daleks — except then it was “I am your servant”. Looking forward to finding out how much of a connection there is between the classic Troughton story and this new one penned by Mark Gatiss (writer: The Unquiet Dead, Idiots Lantern, also appeared as Professor Lazarus in The Lazarus Experiment)
In the third clip, Amy brashly walks right up to a Dalek and starts asking it questions. Its reaction is very much unlike a usual Dalek response, which confirms my assumption that this story may be linked (at least in general plot) to Power of the Daleks.
But I think the interesting thing is that Amy doesn’t seem to know who the Daleks are… Which (along with a clue in The Eleventh Hour) seems to suggest the Doctor may not have picked her up in the present day… But this is pure speculation at this point, and not just on my part.

It’s so nice having Doctor Who back on the air for a proper series again instead of the scattered specials of last year. I’m really liking the new Doctor and Amy so far and can’t wait to see how the series progresses…
The cool thing (or another cool thing) is, I’m actually looking forward to a new Dalek story, which hasn’t really been the case for the last 3-4 years now. Roll on Victory of the Daleks!

This brand new clip features the newly regenerated eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond (presumably no relation to the duck pond in the clip) debating whether the pond in question can really be a duck pond even if it never has ducks.
The two are interrupted as the Doctor clutches his chest as he seems to be having some kind of physical problem with the regeneration (which we know from The Christmas Invasion can take fifteen hours to “set”).

Matt Smith appeared today on the Jonathan Ross show in the UK. For those of us who missed the broadcast (or who, like me, couldn’t see it due to a pesky ocean being in the way) I’m collecting the clips here.
First off we have a new version of the Doctor Who series 5 trailer (or series 31, or “series fnarg” as some people are calling it). This is substantially similar to the second BBC trailer I posted a few days ago, but has a slightly different voiceover and a few new bits of footage for us to pause and geek over.

Next up, we have a premiere clip from the sixth episode of the new series, “Vampires in Venice”. This is great — just loving the new Doctor:

BBC America has started airing their own trailer for the new series of Doctor Who, featuring Matt Smith as the eleventh Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amy Pond. This new trailer includes new footage not seen in the recently released BBC trailer, so more freeze-frame fun for us fans to over analyze the footage to tide us over until the series begins in April.
From the voice over:

New episodes of Doctor Who begin with “The Eleventh Hour” Saturday April 3rd on BBC One in the UK, and Saturday April 17th on BBC America. WooWho!
New Doctor Who series producer Steven Moffat had a chat with the folks on BBC Breakfast this morning about the new series and has a few words to say to calm the fears of fans who are worried the new Doctor can’t be as good as the old one.
Moffat also talks about some of the returning monsters we’ll see this series, including the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Weeping Angels, and confirms the long-standing rumor that the reptilians you see in the first trailer are indeed the Silurians.
He also briefly touches upon his work on the upcoming Tintin film, as well as confirms the air date in the UK for The Eleventh Hour will be Saturday, March 3rd.
The new Doctor Who Series 5 (or 31, depending on how you’re counting) trailer which was revealed at the end of yesterday’s the Eleventh Hour premiere in Cardiff has made it onto YouTube. It features a voice-over from new companion Amy Pond which leads into a voice over from the Doctor.
There’s a montage of highlights from the new series including Daleks, a space dogfight, “Pete’s World” Cybermen, and another worrying shot of the Doctor holding a gun. I’ve added the video below, as well as a video of the 30 second scene from the beginning of The Eleventh Hour below that.

Trust me — I’ve been through this “oh no, a new Doctor!” thing SEVEN times since I became a fan in the late 1970s, and I know this will work out OK. In fact, to quote the 9th Doctor, I think it’ll be fantastic!
Very exciting: the first episode of Matt Smith’s first series of Doctor Who has premiered in Wales at a BBC press launch today, March 18th. A number of clips from the premiere (or related to it) have been posted to YouTube already and I’ve gathered several here for you to view.
Warning: contains minor spoilers for the episode and the new series, but probably nothing you haven’t heard already.
First, a short intro interview with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, leading straight into a short clip of the new Doctor in action in “The Eleventh Hour”:
Trivia: the clip features a young girl, played by Karen Gillan’s cousin.
Next, we have an interview with Matt Smith, recorded before the premiere. Matt talks about what it’s been like filming for months and following in David Tennant’s footsteps when playing the “mad, crazy buffoon” who is the Doctor:
Next we have an interview with Karen Gillan, also recorded from before the premiere. She talks about getting the chemistry right between her character and the Doctor, and what it’s like so far as she begins to get recognition from the public as the new Doctor Who companion:
This is the first I’ve seen Karen on camera. I see what Steven Moffat has referred to in interviews — she seems a bit “kooky” to use his words.
Overall, I just can’t wait to see the Eleventh Hour in full!
The Guardian has posted an interesting interview with Matt Smith on their website a few days ago which is well worth reading. This is the first extensive interview with Matt Smith I’ve seen online and gives a few tantalizing looks into how he will be playing the eleventh Doctor.
I’ve had a really good feeling about Matt Smith as the Doctor since first seeing “The Eleventh Doctor” confidential last year (see video below), and this interview as well as the interview with Steven Moffat in the March 2010 issue of Doctor Who Magazine are leaving me very eager to see the new series.
Only a couple more weeks to wait!

There's been a rumor floating around for ages that award-winning author Neil Gaiman was going to be writing a new Doctor Who episode. The rumor has finally been confirmed, and it seems he will be writing an episode for Matt Smith's second series.
Neil has been a Doctor Who fan since he was three, and after many months of deliberately vague and noncommittal statements, finally revealed "it's quite possible that I might have written an episode. And if I had, it would originally have been called "The House of Nothing". But it definitely isn't called that any more."
Despite still arguably not definitively saying he was doing a script, I think it's pretty safe to assume he will be.
I first read Neil Gaiman twenty-some years ago with his Hitchhiker's Guide companion book "Don't Panic!" and soon afterwards, "Good Omens", then became a diehard fan with the Sandman series. All I can say is I know I'm looking forward to seeing it in 2011!
