The Tritovore – the New Doctor Who Monsters in the Easter Special Hoped to Rival the Daleks

This Easter the Doctor Who special “Planet of the Dead” will introduce a new monster the BBC hopes to be as iconic as the Daleks. The Tritovore are described as “half-man half-fly” creatures according to the Daily Mirror.

“They are disgusting and will last long in the memory,” and were designed in the hope of becoming as iconic Doctor Who monsters as the Daleks or the Cybermen.

David Tennant and Michelle Ryan from Planet of the DeadThe Doctor will face the Tritovore alongside new companion Lady Christina de Souza, who is played by Michelle Ryan of “Bionic Woman” and “Eastenders”.  It has been rumored that Ryan’s character will not just appear in the special, but may become the ongoing companion in future specials or series five in 2010.

The script for the special has been undergoing some hasty last-minute rewrites. It appears a double-decker bus central to the plot was severely damaged during shipping to Dubai, where footage for an alien planet is being shot on location.

The Tritovore may appear in future specials, leading up to the end of David Tennant’s run as the Doctor. According to departing showrunner Russel T. Davies, the 10th Doctor will “go out with a bang.”

Maybe the last special will end with a cliffhanger, which Davies is very good at building up to. I’m not always thrilled with the way he resolves the plots in his finales, so maybe incoming showrunner Steven Moffat can do better, and hit the ground running.

Whatever happens, I’m looking forward to watching.

I cant see any new monsters taking the place of the daleks maybe the cybermen but the daleks are a iconic villain. The only possible way that this Tritovore could be the best baddie would be if it was immune to weapon fire and had wings and also sucks the life out of people. Personally i would have just wanted the Zarbi and possibly the Nimon as the villains if they are using those ideas.

I will seriously laugh if all the fans write in that it was the worst baddie ever. LOL that would be so funny. Months of design and planning and it turns out to be even worse a villain than the invisible aliens (Not in doctor who)
